Working Paper: Mapping Connectivity in the Western Balkans

Georgia Petropoulou is Charlemagne Prize Fellow 2019/2020, and researches on the effects of connectivity in the Balkan region within the framework of the EU enlargement process. With a background in International Security, she worked as a project assistant at the Centre for European Security Studies (CESS) in Groningen, the Netherlands, focussing on the Western Balkans. The objective of her research is to identify the correlation between the social, political, and infrastructural connectivity of the area and the expectations, as well as the development of EU enlargement policies. With the aim to present an outlook on a possible integration of the states of the Western Balkans, the first working paper is mapping the current status of connectivity in the region, providing an overview on the status quo.
